City's Website Wins WebAward

The city's new website takes home its second honor since its Nov. 2011 launch. Find out why.

The City of Hermosa Beach's website recently won an Outstanding Website Award from the Web Marketing Association for its overall design, ease of use and creativity, according to Mayor Jeff Duclos.

The honor, given in the Government website category as part of the annual WebAward competition, is the second this year for the website, which received an Award of Distinction from the California Association of Public Information Officials earlier this year.

The new and improved website, which was launched in November 2011, offers easier navigation, updated content and a more attractive design for residents and visitors who are seeking information about the city and its programs, said Duclos.

The city's Finance Director Viki Copeland served as project manager for the website and the city manager, Community Development Department and City Clerk’s Office participated in the site design. The private firm Vision Internet provided the website content management system and the City Clerk’s Office manages the site. City staff is now able to make changes to the website without outside assistance, said Duclos.

Staff from each of the city’s departments helped develop content for their respective sections of the website.

Said the mayor, “Staff should be commended for all their diligent work in developing an award-winning website and continuing to ensure it functions as intended. The award is a nice recognition of our efforts to create a website that will continue to be an important portal of public information.

“Hermosa Beach is committed to engaging the public through honest and transparent communications, and our award-winning website helps us achieve that goal,” said Duclos.

Freedom is based on a sure identity, that I know who I am, but more importantly WHOSE I am. WhenRead More the LORD sent Moses to deliver His people, that was the beginning of their liberty. They were a particular people to the LORD, whose name is better understand as "He who was, is, and always will be." Not a god made of stone or wood, but the One who made, makes, and evermore makes and gives to us: the LORD took Israel by the hand and led them from bondage to slavery. Not who you are, but whose you are, makes all the difference between bondage and liberty: "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." (Romans 8: 15) Have you been adopted yet? "
