Groundation at Saint Rocke

Groundation

Mon, May 26, 2014 8:00pm (Doors at 05:00pm)
Tickets $20-$25

For over 50 years the word “Groundation” has signified a Rastafarian holy day. Today it signifies the single most authentic American roots reggae band around, GROUNDATION! Founded in 1998, three long time musicians Marcus Urani (organ/keys/piano), Ryan Newman (bass) and Harrison Stafford (guitar/lead vocals) met in their jazz program at California's Sonoma State University to form the core of Groundation's style and sound. Over the years, the band grew to become a 9-piece band including a full Jazz horn section, several percussion players and Jamaican background singers. Come worship this American roots reggae band with us at Saint Rocke!

I have personally seen Groundation live over a dozen times, and keep coming back for more good energy, good vibes, and an all around good crowd, not to mention the heady weed that always seems to flow at their shows. True roots reggae bands are few and far between, Groundation truly preserves the roots of reggae while infusing their own unique voice that has kept loyal fans, including myself coming back for years. I mean they’re named after an ancestral Rastafarian holy day, how cool is that?!? Their music is aimed at reaching a common vibration through the positive power of prayer and music, something the band shares with its fans at each and every concert. The energy exchanged between the band and the audience is truly magical and can only be experienced live. I don’t know about you but I definitely wouldn’t miss this show. Hope to see you there!
