The Stooges Brass Band Bring the FuNk to Saint Rocke

The premier brass band in New Orleans will be here at Saint Rocke leaving their hearts and souls up on stage, June 12th. The Stooges Brass Band has been recognized across the globe due to their blend of traditional New Orleans brass with contemporary urban, hip-hop beats. These guys truly have a passion for playing music. They love to play live on stage or in the streets. Their live shows are second to none when it comes to engaging the audience with music. The Stooges Brass Band isn’t simply a band; they are a musical party.

 Forming in New Orleans in 1996, the Stooges Brass Band has just recently been acknowledged for their musical talents. In 2011, the Stooges Brass Band was awarded “Best Contemporary Brass Band” at the Big Easy Music Awards. In June 2012, the US Embassy employed the Stooges Brass Band as cultural ambassadors to New Orleans on a two-week tour through Pakistan.  They continued to tour internationally, with a two-week tour of the United Kingdom for the Edinburgh Jazz Festival and the Durham Brass Festival. It just goes to show that it doesn’t matter who you are or where you are because music is universal. Kind of like math but it’s a lot more fun and it doesn’t give you a gnarly headache.
