This workshop is for parents of college bound students (entering in the fall) who want to prepare their child for a successful transition into college. Kristin Borostyan of Straighten Up is a former school counselor and will share her insights about the transition giving parents concrete action items to follow making it a smoother, less stressful and more enjoyable process for everyone. This workshop will provide insights on how to encourage independence while building skills and confidence. Hear what colleges are saying about incoming freshmen, why this generation is different and how you can support them. Learn tips to help them with their organization, their time management and teach them lessons in accountability. Learn how to discuss important matters like finances, grades, and conduct at school. Learn how to let go and prepare for the changes that will occur with the remaining family members. This workshop will be interactive and encourages parent participation. Leave confident knowing your child will have the tools and support necessary to be successful their first semester in college.
