Food Trucks to Benefit RUHS

Ten percent of earnings from the local Food Truck Fest and FUNdraiser goes to the high school.

As Hermosans munch on the treats that food trucks along Harbor Drive in Redondo Beach have to offer, 10 percent of whatever they spend will benefit Redondo Union High School.

Former Hermosa Beach council member John Bowler organized the festival of food trucks at the site of the future Shade Hotel. At what has been named the Food Truck Fest and FUNdraiser, the trucks will serve their specialties from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The trucks will return with their goodies on the weekends of March 19 and April 2.

"We're rotating different trucks through here constantly," Bowler told Patch. He operates the Barbie's Q food truck.

Bowler credited Shade Hotel owner Mike Zislis for making the Food Truck Fest and FUNdraiser happen, adding that ten percent of sales will go directly to the Redondo Union Associated Student Body.

"No reason for the property to sit vacant when it can benefit the community," Bowler said.

The trucks are located at 655 N. Harbor Drive.
