Mira Costa Bands Perform Live

Mira Costa bands concert at 7 p.m. tonight live streamed here on HB Patch. Band Boosters launch Instrument Fundraiser tonight, too.

Mira Costa High's acclaimed curricular bands will perform live tonight beginning at 7 p.m. in the campus auditorium. Admission is $5 per person; there is no charge for children and students with ID.

In case you can't be there, Manhattan Beach Patch is live streaming the event.

Dubbed "The Festival Concert," the music for this performance consists of pieces the bands have prepared for a competitive festival they will play in next week in Santa Monica, according to the Mira Costa High website.

MCHS' curricular bands are the concert band, symphonic band, wind ensemble, and jazz band 1. Extra-curricular bands include two after-school jazz bands, the marching band, the combined orchestras, Winterguard (the winter Color Guard competitive program) and chamber ensembles, according to Gretchen Renshaw, president of the Mira Costa Band Boosters.

The concert also marks launch of the the boosters' Instrument Fundraiser. The money will be used to buy large instruments for the school's ensembles. The large instruments typically are too costly for a student to own and are owned by the school, said Renshaw.
