Mira Costa Girls Rule With Two Bay League Titles

Both the girls basketball and soccer teams clinched their respective Bay League titles.

The Mira Costa High School girls soccer and basketball teams both clinched ties for their respective Bay League titles last week.

Lady Mustang Soccer

Last Thursday, the lady Mustang soccer team routed Palos Verdes High School in their final game of the year and secured a tie for the Bay League title shared with Peninsula High School.

The team's win came in the last few minutes of play as Hanna Watkins scored the game winning goal and Megan Carver scored another goal four minutes earlier, Mira Costa's Mustang Roundup reported.

The girls soccer team finished the season with 16-3-2 overall record and a 6-2-2 record in the Bay League.

Lady Mustang Basketball

The Lady Mustangs basketball team also cliched a tie for the Bay League title when they beat Palos Verdes High School 73-48 last Tuesday.

Leading the team during that game were Shaylyn Austin with 14 points, Cameryn Chan with 14 points and Camille Mills with 11 points, according to the Mustang Roundup.

The team finished the season with an 18-9 overall record and 8-2 record in the Bay League. The Lady Mustangs now go on to to play San Gabriel in the CIF playoffs this Saturday at Mira Costa High School.
