Close to 600 Mira Costa High School seniors from the class of 2012 received diplomas Thursday evening in front of a completely packed Waller Stadium on Mira Costa's campus.

The commencement included speeches from senior class president Trent Fujii, Mira Costa Principal Dr. Ben Dale, senior Mackenzie Austin, and senior Charley Binkow.

"Every world leader has sat in our very same position and every one of them has thought the exact same thing that we are thinking right now:" 'What in God's name am I going to do?'" Binkow told the audience.

"Our graduation today is not just a reflection or completion of 4 years, but a statement for the future," he said. "Although the world we are entering will never welcome us with open arms, we will always welcome the challenges that it gives and relish in the joys that we earned-- today, tomorrow, and for the rest of our lives."
