Students Tackle World Issues at Invitational
Students from across Los Angeles County converge at Mira Costa High to debate global issues during the 16th L.A. Invitational Model United Nations.
From the well-versed agenda down to the immaculate business attire, high school students at the Los Angeles Invitational Model United Nations on Saturday were serious about their roles.
Mira Costa classrooms transformed into United Nations committee rooms for the competition, where hundreds of students debated issues ranging from combating hunger to the regulation of private military companies. Sessions mirrored actual United Nations procedures, adhering to the two-thirds vote with delegates raising their respective country's placards.
The day concluded with an awards ceremony, congratulating delegates on their research and effort.
