Video: School Bus Walks in Hermosa

What started out as one family's routine walk to school grows into a local walking school bus.

Shannon Ross walks her children to school every weekeday morning with dogs in tow—and along the way, other neighborhood children and parents join the stroll to school. It's the walking school bus, Ross calls it.

The self-titled "bus driver" starts out on the corner of 9th Street and Prospect Avenue and picks up riders on the route to . 

"People have become very interested in the walking school bus," Ross said. "They like the idea. It's a lot easier than driving."
