Beach Volleyball Junior Tour to Hit Hermosa

The U.S. tour includes 26 events, crossing 17 states. Young athletes will have a chance to compete in Hermosa Beach on July 8.

USA Volleyball on Monday announced this year's schedule for the USA Beach Junior Tour, which crosses the country starting in April and includes a stop in Hermosa Beach.

The tour is for boys' and girls' beach volleyball teams ages 10-18. USA Volleyball’s beach junior rankings is set to debut along with the tour.

The new ranking system aims to allow young players to monitor their progress against players and teams nationwide.

"We are pleased to offer the Beach Junior Tour as a way for girls and boys to get involved and play an Olympic sport," said USA Volleyball CEO Doug Beal in a statement Monday. "We believe the beach junior rankings will add tremendous interest and another great benefit to competing in the 2012 tour."

Event registration will be open on March 15 and posted on USA Volleyball's website. USA Volleyball is the country's national governing body for the sport of volleyball.
