Hermosa Beach Racers Pound Pavement in Super Bowl 10K

Six Hermosans placed in the top 100 in the 35th Annual Super Bowl Sunday 10K in Redondo Beach.

Andrew Lavey, 25, ran the best time at 38 minutes and 20 seconds, finishing 36th overall. Fifty-three-year-old Hermosan Rick Gust finished in 55th place, in 39 minutes and 30 seconds. Eugene Ochoa, 32, ran a time of 39 minutes and 41 seconds, placing 59th.

The first HB woman to cross the 10K finish line was Gillian Mintier, 29, in 40 minutes and 11 seconds, earning a 65th place finish. Other women who ran included Linda Kim, Lourdes Garcia, Carrie Dodd, Megan Downey, Kristen Keenan, Barb Frank, Tracy Bonano, Linda Abeles, Kate Jodscheidt, Kyle James, Kathleen Ruiz, Anna Amador, Kristina Cecil, Erin Caudill, Clare McLean, Suzanne Meier, Megan Lau, Kerri Krusinski, Julia Ann Roberts, Julia Fretschl, Heather Harris, Barb Zondiros and many others.
