Kessy/Ross Capture 4th Consecutive AVP Title

Elaine Youngs and Rachel Scott battle the champions, but fall short of winning their first title in Hermosa Beach this year.

Jen Kessy and April Ross secured their fourth consecutive AVP championship on Sunday, defeating Elaine Youngs and Rachel Scott 21-17, 21-14 in the finals of the Hermosa Beach Open.

"I know it sounds greedy, but we want five (consecutive wins), and then we want six," Kessy said. "We're going to keep playing as well as we can to win Manhattan and all the other ones."

Kessy/Ross fell behind early in the first set, 9-5, but rallied to make it 13-12 and didn't look back. In the second set Youngs/Scott kept it close until the midpoint of the match when Kessy came up with an incredible dig and followed it up with a block on Scott that gave them an 18-12 advantage.
