Play began Friday morning in the Hermosa Beach Open with qualifier games. Spectators can continue to watch some of the best athletes in beach volleyball take to the sand Saturday in main draw play, and then Sunday in the semifinals and finals.

Patch was in the mix Friday afternoon when Patch-sponsored Mackenzie Brook and Kelli Nerison faced off against Mariko Coverdale and Chelsea Hayes. Coverdale-Hayes duo won 21-13, 21-14.
