Hermosa Open Runs Through Sunday

Everything you need to know about the Jose Cuervo Hermosa Open and how to attend.

One of Hermosa Beach's largest beach volleyball events of the year starts today and will run until Sunday at the Hermosa Beach Pier.

The Hermosa Open, part of the Jose Cuervo Pro Beach Volleyball Series, is the fourth event of pro volleyball tour and along with it comes a $100,000 prize purse for the winners, organizers said.

The event will feature some of the country's best beach volleyball athletes in an elimination-style tournament. All matches are free and open to the public.

As parking is limited in downtown Hermosa Beach, a free shuttle will take visitors from Adams Middle School (2600 Ripley Avenue) to the event on Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

In addition to the volleyball action, fans will be treated to free Jose Cuervo cocktails, live music, contests and giveaways in an area dubbed the "Cuervo Village."

“Fans and players can expect the 2012 Cuervo Series to be just as good, and in some cases even better, than last year’s inaugural tour, featuring world-class competition and offering more tour dates, total prize money and overall entertainment than any tour in the U.S.,” said Jose Cuervo Brand Director Brian Radics.
