Give Blood to Remember 9/11 Victims

There will be a Hermosa Beach blood drive on Sept. 18—one week following Sunday's 10th anniversary of 9/11.

In honor and remembrance of the nearly 3,000 victims who died in the 9/11 attacks, Hermosa Beach residents can donate blood during a community-wide blood drive on Sept. 18.

The has been scheduled from 12 to 6 p.m. at the Clark Building on Valley Drive.

State Sen. Ted Lieu, whose 28th District includes Hermosa Beach, urged locals in a statement Wednesday to either give blood or participate in a community service in remembrance of 9/11.

The 10th anniversary of the attacks is Sunday.

"Giving the gift of life is needed now more than ever," he said about donating blood. "According to the Red Cross, natural disasters have taken their toll at a time when vacations have led to dramatic drops in donations."

The Hermosa Beach blood drive coming up next week will support the Providence Little Company of Mary Hospitals and has been organized by Hermosa Beach resident . 

Volunteers can sign up online to give blood at the drive.
