Hermosa Leads in Last Week of Water Challenge

As it holds onto its 1st Place ranking, Hermosa Beach could win the regional competition that promotes water conservation.

With the Wyland Foundation's Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation coming to an end Saturday, Hermosa Beach remains the frontrunner in the competition.

The regional contest ranks cities based on how many residents in the town pledge online to take the Water Challenge to save water and reduce waste—and the city with the highest percentage of its residents who pledge wins.

In order to take the pledge, participants click through lists of water-saving tips, such as taking shorter showers or washing only full loads of laundry.

Those who pledge can earn prizes that include tickets to a Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim game or passes to Disneyland passes.
