Hermosa to Join 'Battle of the Badges'

It's now Hermosa Beach's turn to the join the blood battle.

As part of the sixth annual Battle of the Badges blood drive, law enforcement agencies in the area are competing to see which department can donate the most blood in an effort to save lives.

Hermosa will step up to the challenge in a blood drive Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at City Hall, according to the city's website (see accompanying details under photo.)

To entice people to participate, the Red Cross has offered a Battle of the Badges T-shirt and a coupon for a free appetizer from Mimi's Cafe (while supplies last) to donors.

Last year Bell Gardens Police Department was recognized as having the greatest number of donors at a single blood drive.
