Sandpipers delivers holiday baskets to families facing financial troubles.
The Hermosa Beach Kiwanis Club turned into a philanthropic Santa's workshop Saturday as community members joined Sandpipers in assembling and delivering holiday baskets to more than 100 families in need. This annual Sandpipers tradition dates back to 1931, when families faced financial struggles during the Great Depression.
Now the tradition continues—Rotary Club of Manhattan Beach members and local youth in Sandpipers Juniors were among the volunteers sending holiday cheer through baskets.
