All the money raised Saturday will go to help people get a second opinion from a specialist. A lot of sarcoma patients have to travel from out of state to see an expert. Over the years, our Assistance Fund has given out 470 grants totaling $204,142.
Sarcoma is a cancer of connective tissue, including bone, muscle, cartilage, nerve and fat tissue. It can arise in any part of the body at any age, from newborns on up. It represents 15 percent of the cancer in children.
