It is part of the County of Los Angeles Public Library system, which was founded in 1912.<br /> <br /> The 6,400-square feet building serves in a variety of helpful functions. These include reference services, reader's advisory service, Internet access computers, online library catalogs and reference databases, a microform reader/printer, adult and children's programs and a photocopier.<br /> <br /> Special collections of the Hermosa Beach Library are the Leonard Wibberly Collection, the Caldecott and Newbery Award books and the Academy Awards Video Collection.<br /> <br /> For special events at the Hermosa Beach Library or other county libraries, visit their Web site or read the bulletins posted inside.<br /> <br /> Library cards are free to permanent and temporary residents of California. To receive one, fill out an application at a county library along with a valid identification. Cards are good for three years.
