Green Task Force

The Hermosa Beach Green Task Force has nine Hermosa Beach residents and one school district representative. The goalMore of this ad hoc task force is to propose a "Climate Action Plan", within 18 months to the Hermosa Beach City Council.

According to the group's Web site, its mission is to advise the City Council on the following: "waste reduction, re-use and recycling; sustainable private and public transportation; water use reduction and storm water management; green building including energy and related matters."

The group meets in the City Council Chambers. Task force agendas are posted five days in advance. Check the city Web site for upcoming meeting dates, or contact Pamela Townsend, city senior planner, at 310-318-0242 for more information.

Members: Christian Campisi, Philip Friedl, Ann Hempelmann, Steve Hunt, Kris Kimble, Mike Miller, Lisa Ryder Moore, David Pedersen, Brian Schoening and city liaison Ken Robertson, community development director.

The Public Works Department is responsible for caring and improving the local environment.

The departmentMore heads upkeep for the following public facilities:

  • Parks
  • Medians
  • Sewers
  • Storm drains
  • Street Lighting
  • City-owned buildings

Key citywide services are also provided by the department, including street maintenance, street sanitation and traffic safety.

The City Engineering Department is also housed in the Public Works Department.

Hours for applying for public works permits: 7 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. on regular business days.
