I was born and raised in Pacific Palisades. Let's just say I am as old as Pali High. In 1984 I married and moved to Santa Monica. In 1989 I moved to Van Nuys. In April 2010, unemployed with only four thousand in my savings account and a home at the risk of being in foreclosure, I left my husband and moved in with my mother who still resides in Pacific Palisades.
The strange thing is I arrived with a sense of joy. Prior to arriving I had cried my tears of shame as to how my life had come to where it was, and then joy began to emerge. I was grateful I had a beautiful place to land. A whole new relationship is developing with my home town, a kind of love affair unknown to me as a child who took it all for granted.
A lovely transformation is happening I could never have predicted. In spite of my circumstances, I am inspired. And my hope is that my words may inspire you too. In a world where things seem to be falling apart around us, inspiration is what is needed. I can tell you I am proof positive that joy is possible even when we think we are losing it all.
This blog is my love letter to Pacific Palisades.
