Vagos Motorcyclists Ride Into Hermosa Beach

Members of the notable Vagos motorcycle club rode into Hermosa Beach last weekend, causing a bit of a stir on twitter.

Hermosa Beach Police Capt. Steve Johnson on Thursday confirmed the gang's presence in the city last weekend, saying the visit to Hermosa Beach was "very atypical." He said Vagos was identified by the colors the motorcyclists were flying.

The dozen members, give or take a few, patronized the Hermosa Saloon on Pacific Coast Highway. Their presence went without a hitch, he said, noting that Hermosa Beach Police drove by the site frequently. During the time Vagos members appeared to be hanging out at the saloon, the police department did not receive a single call.

"We're in a society where we're allowed to be free," Johnson said. He said Vagos "have had lots of conflicts over the years.

"We're very limited in what we can do," he said. "It's not real common to have them that open."
