Steven C. Robles is a life-time open water swimmer and was taking part in two-mile swim when the attack occurred. Robles unknowningly swam into the path of a juvenile great white shark, estimated to be over 7 feet long, which had been caught on a fishing line. After being bit in the torso and thumb, Robles managed to free himself from the shark’s grip and was assisted by local surfers.
He was rushed to a hospital and treated for his injuries. Robles was fortunate in that his injuries were not life-threatening; but, he still faces a long road of recovery and it is unclear when he will be able to return to work as a Realtor at the Keller Williams Palos Verdes office.
