Measure B Vote Tuesday Could Bring Quieter Nights to Hermosa

An initiative to make bars and restaurants close earlier than 2 a.m. will be on the ballot.

Measure B, which will be voted on in Hermosa Beach Tuesday, would restrict after-midnight hours of some downtown businesses, drawing strong opposition from some pier-area nightclubs and restaurants.

The initiative aims to make "last call" at bars and restaurants in the city earlier than the standard 2 a.m. Under the measure, the businesses would be required to close by midnight Sunday through Wednesday and by 1 a.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
