Hermosa Beach Pier Re-Opens After Closure For Repairs

Updated 3:08 p.m. Thursday

The Hermosa Beach Municipal Pier has re-opened as of Thursday, said Frank Senteno, city public works director.

Pier access was closed on April 8th for 40 days' worth of repair work, according to the city, with a re-opening deadline of Memorial Day weekend per a California Coastal Commission permit.

The original re-opening date was last Friday, however, on May 8th, Bakaly said the re-opening had been delayed until May 20th.

At the time, City Manager Tom Bakaly said, "Right now, we're just working through it and making repairs. Sometimes it takes longer."

Fiesta Hermosa, a popular event held near the pier, is set to open May 25 and run through May 27. The event brings thousands to the downtown area, beach and pier.

Are you excited about the pier re-opening? When will you take a stroll on it?
